MAGIC MIKE crosses $100 Million at the US Box Office

Steven Soderbergh’s new comedy “Magic Mike” (US Distributor: Warner Bros) proves to be one of the director’s strongest performers at the US Box Office.

On par with “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Ocean’s Thirteen” the film grossed $102 Million in its fourth week. “Magic Mike” is based on a screenplay by Reid Carolin, who is also one of the film's producers.

The film stars Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer and the screenplay is in part based on Tatum's experiences as a stripper in Tampa, when he was 19 years old. Set in the world of male strippers, the film follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.

In a Twitter Q&A in July 2012, Tatum confirmed work on a sequel. The actor responded: "Yes, yes and yes! We're working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger."
