What’s Love Got To Do With It? – now in cinemas

The british rom-com What’s Love Got To Do With It?, directed by Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth) and written by Jemima Khan is now in cinemas!

How do you find lasting love in today’s world? For documentary filmmaker Zoe (Lily James), swiping right to find Mr Right has only delivered bad dates and funny anecdotes, much to her opinionated mother Cath’s (Emma Thompson) dismay.

For her childhood friend and neighbour Kazim (Shazad Latif), the answer is to follow his parents’ example and opt for an assisted marriage with a bright and beautiful bride from Pakistan. As Zoe films his hopeful journey from London to Lahore to marry a stranger, chosen by his parents, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a different approach to finding love.

“Love and intimacy - the most used and yet the most misunderstood words in our vocabulary, and yet we search and search for a true experience of these words. That’s what I found exhilarating in Jemima’s script. The opportunity to explore these words in depth yet contain them in a romantic comedy.

And then, as I always do, I work with my actors as each one of us explores what these words mean to us. It’s been an incredible journey … and now it’s over to you, the viewer. To join us in our tears, our laughter, and our search. For yourselves”. Shekhar Kapur.

What's Love Got To Do With It? is a witty and emotionally charged love letter to a world Khan and Kapur both know and have seen from different perspectives.

What's Love Got To Do With It? can be seen now in cinemas everywhere.

The Estate: A comedy with Toni Collette and Anna Faris - now in cinemas!

Dean Craig’s comedy The Estate, starring Toni Collette and Anna Faris is now playing in cinemas!

Macey and Savanna may not have much. But they’ve got the perfect plan. With a ramshackle café teeter-tottering on the brink of extinction and their lives going nowhere fast, the two sisters conspire to win over their terminally ill Aunt Hilda - the family’s overbearing, curmudgeonly matriarch - in the hopes of becoming the beneficiaries of her vast estate. But as Macey and Savanna soon discover, there may be other relatives who have the exact same idea.

Directed by Dean Craig, The Estate stars Toni Collette, Anna Faris, Kathleen Turner, David Duchovny, Rosemarie DeWitt, Ron Livingston and Keyla Monterroso Mejia.

“I remember the first time reading it, crying with laughter – it was wet your pants funny,” says Toni Collette, who was the first cast member to  join The Estate.

What kept her in stitches during the course of filming in New Orleans, however, was Craig’s A-list ensemble – “the most talented, beautiful, hilarious group of people,” and the unexpected alchemy which ensued (fostered by the director’s openness to improvisation), that took things to the next level. “They’re all brilliant in their own right,” says Collette. “But collectively, something just seemed to magically happen.”

“Often, I’d be on the brink of forgetting my line, because I would be watching David Duchovny do something absolutely inappropriate and hysterical. We have Toni who is serenely thoughtful and beautiful. Rosemarie [DeWitt] and Ron [Livingston] playing James and Beatrice, who are incredibly subtle performers. And then Kathleen Turner who I had the honor of working with on Mom… It was just what I hoped for, which was a learning experience where I got to play the most brazen character - and certainly the most childish character - I’ve played yet.” says Faris.

The Estate is now playing in cinemas, distributed by Prorom and Ro Image.

Medieval – Now in cinemas

This weekend, Medieval is in Romanian cinemas – a movie inspired by the true story of Jan Žižka, one of the greatest warriors in history.

Medieval tells the story of the Czech warlord Jan Žižka (approx.1360–1424), who led the military wing of the followers of the religious thinker and reformer of the Catholic Church Jan Hus, the so-called Hussites. Žižka is considered a very important figure in Czech history and Czech statehood.

After eight years of preparation, Jan Žižka (Medieval) began filming on 17 September 2018 and the last day of shooting was on 8 December 2018.

“Fifty-six days of shooting feels like forever. On the very first day we had three hundred people on set. We had a lot of very action-packed scenes,” says Petr Jákl, who wrote the script, directed and produced the film.

The cast: Ben Foster, Sophie Lowe, Matthew Goode, Til Schweiger, Michael Caine, Vinzenz Kiefer, Werner Daehn, William Moseley, Sophie Lowe, Karel Roden, Ondřej Vetchý, Marek Vašut, Jan Budař, Ben Cristovao and Romana Jákl Vítová.

Petr Jákl has already experienced this type of work in big foreign projects, including in the films Bad Company, Alien vs. Predator, and the historical series Borgia, but also as an actor and stuntman.

Prorom and Ro Image will release Medieval in Romanian cinemas on October, 7, 2022.
