Liam Neeson in Retribution – in cinemas this weekend!

Liam Neeson is back in cinemas with a new action thriller: Retribution!

Neeson is a bank executive who must find a way to save his and his children’s lives after discovering that someone has placed a bomb under their car. The bomb will activate if they decided to leave the car. The mysterious caller also frames him for the death of his best friend, which makes his situation more complicated.

Retribution is directed by Nimrod Antal (Vacancy, Armored, Predators) from a screenplay written by Christopher Salmanpour (based on the film El Desconocido written by Alberto Marini).

Joining Neeson are Matthew Modine (Stranger Things), Noma Dumezweni (The Little Mermaid), Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water), Lilly Aspell, Embeth Davidtz (Schindler’s List), and Arian Moayed (Succession).

Producers are Andrew Rona, Alex Heineman, Jaume Collet-Serra, and Juan Sola.

Presented with the challenge of leading an action movie that requires intense sequences throughout director Nimród Antal reflects “that was something that was both frightening and exciting at the same time,” Antal adds that he looked to claustrophobic thrillers like Tom Hardy’s Locke, Vincenzo Natali’s sci-fi cult classic Cube and Spanish futuristic socio-horror The Platform for inspiration in how to shoot suspenseful sequences with unique compositions in confined spaces.

The resulting film, Antal says, should feel at once familiar and fresh. “We wanted this movie to add to the library of action films that Liam has made, but also to bring something new to them, something the viewers hadn’t seen. Liam has always been a man with that certain set of skills but in this film, he’s just an everyday guy trying to keep his family alive.” A task made ever harder as the caller’s demands increase in their deadly difficulty and the tension on the Turner family ratchets up and up.

Prorom will release the movie in Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria on August, 25.
